You’re only a month away from the official start date of the northern hemisphere’s spring season! Can you believe it? You’ve managed to get through the endless holiday banquets you seem to have no excuse to bail out from; layers of heavy clothing weighing you down and your feelings (but at least making your gut less noticeable); general dampened mood and exhaustion when you’re just home most of the time; and your unwillingness to cave in to your friends’ tireless attempts to drag you outside! Hooray!
As soon as it starts to get warmer, you know it’s time to snap out of your hibernation mode, peel away from your pajamas and get your mind and body spring-cleaning ready!
You can use our two-part spring detox guide to start preparing yourself to feel renewed and reenergized! No, we are not going to promote any detox diets here. Instead, we will be rounding up some ideas to slowly get you (back) into a nourishing health regimen.
Before we talk about small changes you can make with what your food and drink choices, let’s get into a proper mindset and focus on other areas of your body!
Highly recommended to those who suffer from stress and anxiety on a daily basis. Regular meditation not only teaches us to be more attuned to ourselves and relaxes our minds, but has also been proven to alter our brain structure and improve general physiological functioning. Meditation also helps us develop certain traits to allow us to lead a better life by being more self-aware, focused, and disciplined among its other benefits. If you have not tried it before, there are some meditation tips for beginners to help you get started.
Hit the sack early
Do you want to be less cranky, more productive and attentive at work, maintain a healthy weight and look even better? Then, go to bed early! Believe me, sleep is NOT for the weak! It can be tough, but once you get your meditation routine down pat – it will surely get easier from there. But how much sleep do we really need, you may ask. Some people may need to punch in more or less hours depending on several factors, like age. It seems that the older you get, the less sleep your body requires! Life is giving you an opportunity to make the most out of your waking hours and devout more time into doing meaningful things – isn’t that great? Some of you may complain that you don’t have enough time, but try looking into your priorities and being more organized. You do have enough time in a day, you just have way too many distractions. Get rid of it, do what needs to be done and catch some Zs.
Go for a skin cleanse
Trust us, you won’t regret it! Gather all the natural ingredients you probably already have at home or support homemade beauty products and ditch the harsh elements in most commercial skincare products! Try to keep those chemicals away from your skin for even a week and you will see a difference. During winter, chemicals in facial cleansers can even dry out your skin even more and cause acne breakouts. In spring, we promise some of your skin’s new best friends – dry brush, baking soda, honey, lemon, and turmeric – will turn things around!
